Product Description
1878 Philadelphia 7-Tail Feather Morgan Silver Dollar Very Fine. When first issued, the Morgan silver dollar featured an eight-tail feather eagle but was replaced with a seven-tail feather type later in 1878. The flat breasted eagle was somewhat scrawny in appearance and the fletching on the arrow it clutched was parallel.
1878 Philadelphia 7-Tail Feather Reverse of ‘79 Morgan Silver Dollar Very Fine. After yet another revision, what is now referred to as the Reverse of ‘79 by numismatists became the standard for the series. The number of tail feathers remained at seven, but the eagle's flat breast was now rounded and the top fletching of the arrow became slanted. Very Fine quality.
