1925 Stone Mountain Silver Half Dollar. This single-date tribute was approved in 1925, just 60 years after the end of the Civil War. Gutzon Borglum — the sculptor who would later be known for the Mount Rushmore Memorial — was responsible for the design of the commemorative coin that would ultimately help fund the carving of giant Confederate soldiers on the side of Georgia's Stone Mountain. The obverse of the 90% silver half dollar depicts Generals Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson on horseback while the reverse features an imposing American Eagle.
1925 California Diamond Jubilee Silver Half Dollar. We rarely offer this nonagenarian treasure because it is genuinely scarce. Merely 86,394 of these 90% silver half dollars were issued over nine decades ago. The historic one-year issue honors the 75th anniversary of California's admission to the union. The obverse engraving portrays an iconic image of a forty-niner panning for gold. California's state emblem, the grizzly bear, shuffles across the reverse. Just shy of mintstate About Uncirculated quality.
