Issued in 1945, this 3-cent stamp on a First Day Cover envelope shows soldiers marching through the Arc de Triomphe in Paris with six bombers flying overhead. The city was liberated from German occupation in 1944 with the aid of the U.S. Army and other allied units. Since its construction, the Arc has served as a gathering place for French victory marches and parades. Envelope artwork may vary from one shown.
