Product Description
In the 1980s, mintages for U.S. proof sets reached as high as 4.1 million. But just over 3.0 million of the 1988 and 1989 proof sets were released. Proof coins were issued only as part of complete denomination sets. To satisfy the market for individual proofs, dealers had to break up some existing proof sets. So even fewer 1988 and 1989 proof sets remain in the perfectly intact form we’re offering. Each set includes finest-quality proofs of the cent, nickel, dime, quarter and half dollar for the date. Their double-struck engravings have a crisp raised appearance with elegant frosted finishes contrasting with stunning mirror backgrounds. Each proof coin’s extraordinary beauty is permanently protected by the U.S. Mint’s see-through plastic case.
