This big coin was issued for UNESCO's International Year of the Child with the intention of bringing global awareness to poverty, malnutrition and educational disparities that many children suffered from around the world. Less than 10,000 of these coins were struck in Uncirculated format; each contained 1.0409 troy ounces of .925 fine silver. The obverse depicts the Costa Rican coat of arms, while the reverse features three nestlings waiting to be fed. Brilliant Uncirculated quality.
