Product Description
Containing more silver than U.S. Mint quarters, the Spanish-American 2 reales (two bits) was favored in commerce and remained legal tender in the U.S. until 1857. Far fewer were minted than the more familiar 8 reales silver dollar (which was sometimes cut into pieces for change, another form of two bits). The Bourbon monarch obverse and royal crest reverse are still visible on our Good quality, which circulated in early America.
