U.S. 1925 Stone Mountain Silver Half Dollar. In 1863 the Civil War was raging. That year saw the Emancipation Proclamation and the Battle of Gettysburg. Over half a century later, Gutzon Borglum, the illustrious sculptor later known for the Mount Rushmore Memorial, dreamed of carving giant figures of Confederate soldiers on Stone Mountain. To help fund the project, he designed this U.S. commemorative silver half dollar showing Generals Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson. Beautiful Extra Fine quality.
