In its day, the Morgan silver dollar was the only U.S. coin struck in the East, South and West. This vintage 1890 set includes the no-mintmark Philadelphia, O-mintmark New Orleans and S San Francisco issues, all in nicely detailed Very Fine quality. Because mintages of the 1880's had been substantial, comparatively few 1890 issues needed to enter commerce. Of those held in reserve by the Treasury, vast numbers were later lost in government melts. Today it's estimated that as few as 6% of these issues survive in our Very Fine quality or higher grades.
