Vast numbers of these early Peace dollars have been lost to government melts and attrition. It's estimates that as few as 2% to 5% of the original 1923-D and 1923-S production may exist today in mint-state quality. That makes these circulated Very Fine specimens a great choice. And even in VF quality, fewer than 10% of the original mintage are estimated to currently survive. The 90% silver Peace dollar is noteworthy as America's last circulating silver dollar. Since the coins were only output for 10 years, just three Peace dollars were minted for every ten earlier Morgan dollars.
