Peace silver dollar mintages plummeted in the mid-1920s as the quota Congress had set was nearing. Consequently, in 1926 the San Francisco Mint issued only 6.9 million and the Denver Mint just 2.3 million Peace dollars for circulation. Because the economy was booming, there was a great demand for the new silver dollars in commerce. Smaller than usual quantities escaped circulation and remain today in mint-state quality.
