In 1932 the inaugural Washington quarter was issued to commemorate George Washington’s 200th birthday. Just a few years later, during tough economic times, only 34.4 million were minted in Philadelphia for 1935. Now over eight decades old, these Depression-era silver quarters are still in pristine condition. Never having entered commerce, the Brilliant Uncirculated MS-64 specimens have wonderful luster and superior surfaces. Only a very small portion of the original limited mintage remains today in these top grades. Not only are these coins impressive to look at, but they also carry 90% silver content, unlike today’s circulation issues.
