Regular U.S. mint and proof sets were not issued in the years 1965-1967 (unique "special mint sets" were substituted). The regular U.S. series was restored with the 1968 issues. That year the San Francisco Mint issued its first dazzling proof set, launching a magnificent new era in American coinage. The 5-coin set includes the cent, nickel, dime, quarter and half dollar in superlative proof quality with double-struck, deep-sculpted engravings and mirror fields. The 10-coin 1968 mint set contains pristine Brilliant Uncirculated specimens of all circulation coins from all three mints: Philadelphia (no mintmark), Denver ('D' mintmark) and San Francisco ('S').
