Product Description
The first five 1878-1882 S-mintmark silver dollars are regarded by numismatists as the best-struck in the Morgan silver dollar series. The recently opened San Francisco Mint boasted the finest minting equipment of any U.S. facility and specialized in Morgan dollars. Today this 1879-S date is 60% less plentiful than the famous 1881-S issue in mint condition. And only one in six mint-state 1879-S Morgans qualifies as a connoisseur's treasure MS-64 specimen, with burning original luster and superlative surfaces on both sides, or higher grades. Each comes in a protective transparent case with MS-64 grade certification by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation or the Professional Coin Grading Service.
Certified coins should never be removed from their cases and cannot be returned once removed.
