1888 Philadelphia Morgan Silver Dollar, Extra Fine. Morgan mintages peaked in the 1880s, when the Philadelphia Mint was turning out about 20 million silver dollars per year. A vast number of these coins were held in storage and later melted down during the world wars. Today, just 3% of this 1888 no-mintmark Morgan silver dollar's original output is estimated to remain in mint-state quality, which puts added collecting pressure on circulated specimens. Our Extra Fine quality issues were only lightly circulated and feature minimal wear.
