Product Description
A shortage of small denomination coinage developed during the the Civil War. To fill that void, fractional currencies referred to as shinplasters circulated from 1862 and would continue to be issued into the Reconstruction Era until 1876. Physically smaller than other paper money, fractional currency has a face value of less than one dollar and carries no serial numbers. Most were eventually destroyed. Our nicely preserved 25¢ notes are in Circulated condition. Design and date may vary from shown.
