Product Description
Of the 1878-1882 first five San Francisco Mint issues (considered to be the best-struck in the entire Morgan dollar series), the 1879-S had the second lowest total mintage. And the San Francisco facility divided its 1879 production between two relatively scarce types. We offer the revised convex eagle breast type, which became the standard for the lengthy series. Our gorgeous MS-63 specimens were most likely struck with nearly fresh dies and never entered circulation. The obverse and reverse of each coin displays fantastic luster and only slight bag marks.
