1881 Morgan Silver Dollar BU: During the 1880s, massive amounts of silver was mined and transformed into Morgan dollars. With more than enough already in circulation, the surplus of newly-minted coins were sent to storage vaults, where they – much like this 1881 Philadelphia's issue – would suffer great losses in future melts. 1900 Morgan Silver Dollar BU: This no-mintmark issue emerged from the principal Philadelphia Mint at the dawn of the 20th century and 124 years later, only a small fraction of its original mintage survives in this gleaming mint-state condition.
