Authorized for the 1893 Columbian Exposition, this historic silver half dollar was the first commemorative coin in U.S. history. Two famed engravers designed this coin: the obverse presents Charles E. Barber's sculpted portrait of Columbus and George T. Morgan's depiction of the flagship Santa María on the reverse side. We offer the 1893 date originally sold for a premium at the Columbian Exposition. Comparatively few survive in lovely About Uncirculated quality.
