Product Description
The repeal of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act in 1893 led to a drastic, temporary plunge in silver dollar production. Overall, fewer Morgans were issued in 1895 than any other date in the series. Much of the 450,000 output by New Orleans was released into circulation or later melted, leaving very few silver dollars in mint-state condition.
The rarity of this coin in finer grades makes it a highly desirable acquisition for collectors. In 2005 the finest known example graded MS-67 sold at auction for a record $575,000! In today's market, an average mint-state 1895-O Morgan dollar can retail for six figures. We've acquired several About Uncirculated specimens with original mint luster and just a trace of wear that won't break the bank quite like a six figure coin — don't miss out on this opportunity to add a fantastic Morgan to your collection.
