1915 Panama-Pacific Silver Half Dollar XF — This gorgeous silver half dollar was authorized by Congress to raise funds for the International Exhibition that celebrated the opening of the Panama-Pacific Canal. The Act allowed a mintage of 200,000 pieces, but only 60,030 were struck. Designed by the U.S. Mint's famed Charles Barber and George T. Morgan, the engravings on this early commemorative are absolutely stunning. This special issue is not often seen in the marketplace, but is considered one of the most important in the series. 1923 Monroe Doctrine Silver Half Dollar XF — This classic 1923 silver commemorative honors the centennial of the Monroe Doctrine, which asserted that the U.S. would not tolerate European interference in the Americas. Shown circa 1823 are jugate busts of President James Monroe and then Secretary of State, John Quincy Adams. The reverse engraving features an artistic rendering of a relief map of North and South America with two female figures representing the shape of each continent. Today, only a fraction of the 274,077 struck remain in collectible grades. Extra Fine quality.
