Product Description
1922-S Peace Silver Dollar: The Peace dollar was first struck in 1921 with an experimental high-relief engraving, which proved to be difficult to execute. This first 1922-S issue introduced modified-relief engravings which became the standard for the series. Most of the 17.5 million struck entered commerce, which translates to less than 1% remaining in mint-state condition today. That low survival number for BUs puts added pressure on circulated grades like the Extra Fine offered here.
1928-S Peace Silver Dollar: In 1928 a Peace dollar quota was reached and minting abruptly stopped. The San Francisco Mint produced just 1.6 million pieces that year, one of the lowest of the series – vastly fewer than most earlier dates and substantially fewer even than the later 1934 and 1935 productions, when the series was briefly revived. In average mint-state quality, this elusive issue sells for nearly $800. You'll pay significantly less than that for our sharply detailed Extra Fine quality.
