We've acquired a number of superbly struck 1944-D Mercury silver dimes – not only are these slabbed specimens graded as MS-65, but they've also received the classification of "FB," or Full Bands which is coveted by collectors. To earn this designation, the central bands of the reverse fasces must show a complete split in the middle. This important distinction is indicative of a sharp strike, which is a true rarity as many Mercury dimes were weakly struck with incomplete details. To date, only a tiny portion of the 62.2 million dimes minted by Denver in 1944 have been classified with Full Bands.
