Product Description
It's not often that error coins slip through the quality control cracks at the U.S. Mint... but we've found a small cache of certified Mint errors and are pleased as punch to be able to offer them to you!
Are you looking for something unique to add to your collection – a stand out specimen that will spark conversation – or even envy? Well, we've got a pretty cool treat for you!
The U.S. Mint churns out billions of coins across all denominations each year. But what happens when the Mint makes a mistake? Well, in this case – a 6¢ nickel!
These super-collectible errors occurred when incorrect planchets were used for the intended denomination. A Jefferson nickel was struck on a Lincoln cent planchet, which technically makes for a 6¢ coin!
We're willing to bet that not many collectors have heard of, let alone laid eyes on this accidental denomination – but we were lucky enough to acquire a VERY limited number of these unusual CERTIFIED error coins that were struck in the 1970s and 1980s. As no two specimens are alike, dates and grades will vary.
