This collection boasts 16 coins in total with all specimens showcasing the excellence of the San Francisco Mint. The six-coin 1978 proof set had a total mintage of 3.1 million and contained the final year Eisenhower dollar in its finest form. The three million output of the five-coin 1988 proof set was significantly smaller than the 1987 mintage and one-quarter less than the all-time high production of 1976. With under 2.1 million issued, the now-vintage 1998 proof set was the final five-coin set produced before the launch of the State quarter program.
