Product Description
The 1998 proof and mint sets were the last before their series were expanded to include statehood quarters in 1999. The proof set's mintage of 2,086,507 is relatively low, far less than any from 1961 to 1995. Struck by the San Francisco Mint, this set contains cent, nickel, dime, quarter and half dollar proofs, boasting double-struck frosted engravings and dazzling mirror backgrounds. The 1998 mint set, with its 1.2 million mintage fell far below some earlier 10-coin U.S. mint sets that retail for the same regular price or more. Included are specially minted BU specimens of both Philadelphia (P mintmark) and Denver (D) cents, nickels, dimes, quarters and half dollars.
