The $2 denomination first appeared in American currency in 1862, and continues to be sporadically printed in a revised form today. Many collectors have an affinity for this denomination – perhaps one reason for its appeal is that it is not commonly seen in circulation, lending the "Tom" a certain air of mystique. Since 1976, the $2 note has featured an engraving of the famous painting, Declaration of Independence by Revolutionary War veteran, John Trumbull. Having never entered commerce, our perfectly Crisp Uncirculated specimens are both affordable and collectible.
