It is a bit of a Christmas miracle that these wonderful silver coins have survived and remain so affordable! Scholars now believe the Magi or wise men that were said to visit Jesus near his birth were representatives of the Indo- Scythian ruler Azes. He was king of Bactria, in Central Asia and ruled at the time of Christ's birth. This remarkably wellpreserved, 2000-year-old silver drachm depicts the king on horseback, and shows a standing figure of Zeus on the reverse.
