Once part of the Ottoman Empire, Palestine formally came under British rule following the end of World War I by a Mandate that was issued by the League of Nations. Between 1927 and 1946 both coin and currency were issued with English influence; the new Palestine pound was fixed in value to the British pound and would be divided into 1,000 mils. Featuring an olive sprig, this trilingual 100 mils coin was inscribed in Arabic, English and Hebrew and was struck with .720 silver content. Very Fine quality. Our choice of 1927-1942 date.
