Product Description
U.S. 5-Coin 1961 Silver Proof Set. Now well over 50 years old its the least costly U.S. proof set of its vintage and now its on sale. This was one of the last regular U.S. proof sets to include three 90% silver denominations (the dime, quarter and half dollar) in addition to the cent and nickel. Many of the sets were later broken up to obtain coveted individual Franklin silver half dollar proofs, which were issued only in these sets. Sealed U.S. Mint cellophane packaging protected the beauty of these finest-quality proofs.
U.S. 10-Coin 1961 Silver Mint Set. Low mintage with silver content! With a final output of merely 223,704, this historic low-mintage set easily boasts the lowest production for any U.S. mint set of the past half-century. And substantially fewer complete sets are available today as they are often broken up to obtain individual coins. It was among the last set to include 90% silver dimes, quarters and half dollars before U.S. coinage transitioned to copper-nickel clad. Included are BU specimens of both P and D issues for the date.
