Since 1968, the San Francisco Mint has specialized in the production of U.S. proof coins. Each double-struck, mirror-finish coin in individually processed using the most advanced minting technology. These Roosevelt dime proof were issued only as part of the year's proof sets, therefore the only way to obtain them was to break up existing sets. Most proof set owners are reluctant to do this, so individual dime proofs are far scarcer than mintage numbers would suggest. Our S-mint dimes are from proof sets whose mintages ranged from 2.6 to 4 million -- the minutest fraction of circulation mintages for these dates. We've included the coveted "Clear S" 1979 dime proof. The 1981-S Type II is not included to keep this set affordable.
