Just 2.1 million were released, compared to over 130 million Kennedy half dollars struck in 1969. The only way for collectors and dealers to obtain Brilliant Uncirculated 1970-D (Denver Mint) Kennedy half dollars individually was to break up existing mint sets (the circulation issue was cancelled). So even fewer sets survive today intact. The 10-coin set contains all Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco BU issues for the date (cents, nickels, dime, quarters and half dollars).
