Product Description
The U.S. Mint did not issue complete all-denomination proof sets until 1936, the year after the last circulation U.S. silver dollar was struck. So it was not until the traditional-size Eisenhower dollar emerged decades later that a magnificent dollar coin was included in U.S. proof sets. The Eisenhower dollar had been minted for circulation since 1971 but did not debut in U.S. proof sets until 1973. The Ike dollar, added to the cent, nickel, dime, quarter and half dollar proofs, made the 1973 set the first 6-coin proof set.
