Minted in celebration of the 1996 Atlanta Georgia Centennial Olympic Games, this issue was one of 16 released from 1995-1996. Shown are three men playing basketball. The reverse features the Atlanta logo over a globe, representing the nearly 200 nations of the world that participated. Mintages for this proof coin were significantly smaller than proof mintage for the previous two U.S. half dollars issued.
