Product Description
The Franklin half dollar series was the last complete American coin series to be struck with 90% silver content. In 1962 when these 50 cent pieces rolled off the press at the Denver Mint, no one had any inkling that the series would only be struck for one more year. While production of the Franklin half dollar was due to continue for another 10 years, it came to a screeching halt after the assassination of President Kennedy in late 1963 and was hurriedly replaced by a new half dollar created in his honor the following year. The Franklin's abbreviated series make assembling a complete set an attainable goal for collectors and this 1962-D Denver Mint issue in pristine Brilliant Uncirculated quality is a great place to start.
