Product Description
Morgan mintages steadily rose in the 1880s when silver was still pouring out of the Western mines, but unlike other coins of the day, many 1883 Philadelphia issues were held in reserve and later lost in government melts. Because of this, original mintage numbers can be deceiving in relation to the actual number now surviving.
Today, just 3% of the 1883 Philadelphia Morgan dollar's original output is estimated to remain in mint-state quality and of those, an even smaller portion qualify for this MS-63 quality we offer here.
