Product Description
Generally speaking, a lot more circulated Morgan silver dollars survive today than mint-state grades. One exception to the rule is the San Francisco Mint's 1889-S Morgan dollar. The San Francisco Mint produced a relatively low 700,000, just one-third the number minted by the principal Philadelphia Mint that same year. While at least 55,000 are estimated to survive in mint-state condition, far fewer survive in circulated condition. Early in the 20th century this issue was considered one of the great rarities in the series, but many were later found in Treasury bags released in the 1930s and 1940s. Clearly detailed Very Fine quality.
