MS-64 coins were generally struck with fresh dies, so they have superior luster and crispness compared to average Brilliant Uncirculated coins. To qualify for this high level of grading, a coin must have outstanding luster on both obverse and reverse sides, and the coin's surfaces are impressively unblemished. Each silver dollar is encased in a protective transparent slab, with consensus grading certification by the Professional Coin Grading Service or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. These certifications are readily accepted throughout the country as assurance of a coin's high grade.
