Product Description
Undergoing multiple revisions in just its first year of issue, the 1878 Philadelphia Morgan dollar would ultimately end up with four distinctive variety types. When first issued, the Morgan's iconic eagle possessed eight-tail feathers, but not long after its debut the design was revised and a feather was dropped from its tail. Referred to as the Reverse of ‘78 by numismatists, the seven-tail feather variety we offer here is easily identified by two factors: a somewhat gaunt, flat breasted eagle; and the arrow's top set of feathers is parallel to the rest of the fletching. Today, all four varieties are considered necessary for even a basic Morgan collection. Now you can add a beautiful, Near Gem MS-64 specimen that boasts excellent luster, and clean, clear surfaces to your very own collection. Grade certification by NCG or PCGS.Product Videos
