Product Description
-S Morgan Silver Dollar MS-63: When the first year 1878-S Morgan was struck, the San Francisco Mint had only recently opened its newest facility which was equipped with the latest and greatest technology. The first five years of Morgans output by San Fran are considered to be the best struck in the entire series – and of the quintet of early dates, this 1878-S issue is the scarcest overall.
-O Morgan Silver Dollar MS-63: New Orleans output 5.7 million silver dollars in 1881, but today that mintage is deceiving as many of these historic issues were held in Mint and Treasury vaults, only to later fall into the government's melting pot during the world wars. A very small portion of the original mintage – less than 3% – may still exist in the certified MS-63 quality we offer here.
-CC Morgan Silver Dollar MS-63: Get a premium quality CC Morgan while it's on sale! You'd regularly pay $839 for this coveted issue in average BU condition, but with this special sale offer you'll pay less for higher quality, MS-63 condition! Very few silver dollars were struck at the isolated Nevada Mint, and in 1884 a mere 4% of the year's Morgans were produced by Carson City.
Morgan Silver Dollar MS-63: Philadelphia certainly contributed to the mass production of Morgans in the 1880s; in 1887 the principal mint issued a staggering 20.3 million business strikes – and that wasn't even the highest output of the decade! But now, almost 140 years later, experts estimate that just 10% of the original output survives in mint-state grades, like these lovely MS-63 specimens.
