Product Description
During the heyday of the Morgan series, large quantities of New Orleans silver dollars were released into local commerce and then mysteriously withdrawn and sent back to the U.S. Mint in resealed bags. In The Comprehensive U.S. Silver Dollar Encyclopedia, Dean Tavenner writes, "For the past many years and in several writings I have referred to these as ‘two-beer' dollars; i.e., coins which circulated long enough to buy two beers before returning to the vaults from circulation."
Our About Uncirculated quality for this 1881-O relative scarcity retains its original mint luster, but shows just a tiny bit of wear at high points to the practiced grading eye.
