Product Description
1881-S Morgan Silver Dollar: Having outgrown its original facility, in 1874 the San Francisco Mint opened its new digs, complete with the most advanced minting contraptions, gadgets and gizmos of the day. Its minting prowess was still apparent years later when it produced the 1881-S Morgan, which is widely considered by numismatists to be one of the most beautifully struck issues of the entire series. While our circulated Very Fine specimens have since passed through many hands, they still retain vestiges of San Fran's glorious legacy.
1883-S Morgan Silver Dollar: By the early to mid-1880s, overall Morgan mintages began to decline, due in part to huge numbers of these coins already in commerce and less silver coming from bonanza mines. The 1883-S output was just 6.2 million, about half the number produced there just two years before. Among the first six S-Mint issues, this date is the toughest to find; average mint-state 1883-S Morgans sell for nearly $3,000 – making these clearly detailed Very Fine specimens an excellent alternative to a hefty price tag.
