The total mintage of the last Indian Head penny was less than 15 million, which was just a fraction of America's population of the time. There were comparatively few to go around which led to heavy wear. Many surviving cents were destroyed after recall; today relatively few survive in collectible condition. Our Good quality retains basic designs with clear dates and inscriptions.
