Product Description
1909 VDB & Plain Lincoln Cent Pair G/VG — Three Letters Stopped Production – These first year Philadelphia Wheat cents are essential issues for any penny collection. Just days after the new Lincoln cent was unveiled, the reverse was revised to remove the designer's initials that were deemed to be too prominent. In Good/Very Good quality, you'll get an "offending" VDB specimen as well as a subsequent plain issue, sans initials.
1913 Buffalo Nickel Type I & Type II VF Pair — Excavation for Preservation – If you're looking for affordable first year Buffalo types, our pair of nicely detailed Very Fine Philadelphia specimens will fit the bill. Although the famous 1913 Type I and Type II nickels were struck across all three mints, far fewer were issued by Denver and San Fran and thus tend to be pricey. When the Buffalo nickel entered circulation, it was apparent that the raised mound on which the bison stood would quickly wear away, and with it the legend FIVE CENTS. A second type was issued; the raised mound was excavated, creating a flat plane with the denomination placed in the recessed area below.
