Over nine decades ago in the midst of the Roaring Twenties, the Ford Motor Company introduced the 40 hour workweek, the renowned Route 66 was built and the famous Chicago turf wars were in full swing.

But Peace silver dollar mintages were on the decline as the series was already nearing the mintage limit imposed by Congress. In 1926 the Denver Mint issued only 2.3 million dollars for circulation, less than 5% of the series' earlier peak mintage.

Although the 1926-D mintage wasn't the lowest for that year, it is the scarcest of the date's three issues today. It's estimated that as few as 7% may currently survive in the clearly detailed Very Fine quality we are offering or higher grades. That means that just 1 in every 1,940 Americans could own this nonagenarian issue today!
