The Peace dollar was the inheritor of the Morgan dollar's legacy. Beginning in 1921, the Peace dollar featured a design honoring the end of WW I. This 1923-D, second year issue, has a very low survival rate. A silver dollar encyclopedia estimate that less than 1% remain in mint-state quality. Those BU issues sell for over three times our sale price for this Very Fine specimen. Only a limited number of Peace dollar mintages included Denver issues. In fact the next D-mint Peace dollar was output in 1926. Our Very Fine specimens offer clear detailing of the engravings and mintmark with minimal wear.
