Frederic Remington was a prolific American artist whose lifelong fascination with the Western frontier led to an impressive body of works that encompassed more than 3,000 paintings and drawings and 22 bronze sculptures — all before his untimely death at the age of 48. In 1961, the USPS honored the 100th anniversary of Remington's birth with a 4¢ stamp that featured a portion of his 1905 painting, The Smoke Signal. Intact mint sheet of 50 stamps.
