When the Franklin series was authorized in 1948, it was expected to run for the next 25 years. But 1963 would be its final year of production; the series was cut short after President Kennedy's assassination in favor of a half dollar memorializing the fallen leader. Now over 60 years old, these 90% silver Brilliant Uncirculated specimens are still as nice as the day they left the Philadelphia and Denver Mints.
