Product Description
1992-1998 Premier Silver Proof Set Collection. In 1965, as the market price of silver exceeded U.S. coinage face value, silver issues were replaced with copper-nickel, which made the 1964 proof set the last year to contain 90% silver coins.
In 1992, the U.S. Mint began issuing special silver proof sets annually in addition to regular clad sets. Before the commencement of the State quarter series, special Premier silver proof sets were also produced with luxurious packaging. These connoisseur sets had even lower mintages than the already low mintage silver sets.
These seven 5-coin Premier silver proof sets are housed in black velvet cases with satin lining and are specially created for display. Each proof set comes in its original cardboard box.
