Comprised of .925 sterling silver, this commemorative proof celebrates the 175th anniversary of the first stagecoach service that ran from Upper Province (now Ontario) cities of Kingston and York beginning in the early 1800s. The early horse drawn stagecoach was vital for transporting both mail and passengers over long distances. In the winter months, a coach with sled runners and powerful horses would be used, much like what is depicted on this coin's reverse engraving.
