1981 Proof Set, 6-Coins. By 1981 U.S. proof sets had included dollar coins for almost a decade — first the Ike dollar, then the forward-facing Susan B. Anthony dollar. Since the SBA dollar was only issued from 1979 to 1981 (other than a small number in 1999), this was the last time six coins were included in a proof set; cent, nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar and dollar.
Each proof features deep-struck, frosted engravings contrasting with mirror backgrounds. The U.S. Mint-sealed display case shows both sides of each coin as it protects their beauty. Now almost four decades old, this elegant proof set is gaining vintage status.
